DataChambers Opens New Raleigh Data Center

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – June 27, 2013 – DataChambers, a North Carolina-based information technology firm, announced today it has opened the first phase of its new high-availability data center in Raleigh, N.C. The facility has now been renovated to meet DataChambers’ high standards for security and availability, and it is now accepting new clients.

The 50,000-square-foot building and eight-acre property were purchased by DataChambers in September 2012. Since then, the facility has undergone a series of significant systems and infrastructure upgrades.

Nearly a million pounds of concrete and steel were used to reinforce the building to meet Category 3 hurricane standards. Substantial improvements have also been made to site security, including a new perimeter fence equipped with vibration sensors, bullet-resistant windows and walls, high-tech card and fingerprint readers, cage locks, and 24/7 video monitoring.

The first phase of raised data center space at the site is now complete. It features redundant power and HVAC and fire protection as well as redundant fiber connectivity to virtually every major carrier in the nation. DataChambers plans to host client systems at the facility and to offer a variety of outsourced information technology services, including monitoring and management solutions, data backup and business recovery services.

“We’ve made a significant investment to ensure client systems and data are well protected,” said DataChambers CEO Nicholas Kottyan. “We are delighted to be open for business and we are looking forward to serving the Triangle business community.”

In addition to the Raleigh data center, DataChambers owns two data centers in Winston-Salem. Earlier this month, it announced a fourth center will be built on the campus of the North Carolina Research Campus near Charlotte.
